History

At birth, one would have expected Alexander Brade to become a mercenary mechwarrior and eventually take over his father's unit, Brade's Cavaliers. The Cavaliers were already a battalion in size when Alexander was born. Long allied with the F/C, they were busy raiding the Jade Falcons before the Truce of Tukayyid. A two-year stint working for Earthwerks ended with a new F/C contract and a trip to the Marian Hegemony. It was there that Alexander would grow up. But the Cavaliers did not grow with him. After reaching near regimental size, with technology and assets that many envied, the unit was decimated at the hands of the Smoke Jaguars while attempting to rescue a subsidiary unit trapped on a raid in 3054. Alexander's father, Thomas Brade, disbanded the Cavaliers shortly thereafter, scattering the surviving members to the four winds, and keeping very few assets for himself. Some Cavaliers settled near the Brades, taking advantage of a few titles and a stellar reputation in the region. Alexander had been knighted at age 3 and given a small land grant, and is heir to his father's baronet. Alexander's initial mechwarrior training came at the hands of Lee Chang, his father's old XO. His father did not take anything more than a minor role in teaching Alexander the ways of war, no matter how much Alexander asked that Thomas do so. On his 16th birthday, Thomas did take one large step, gifting his son with a slot in the prestigious FWL University on Atreus. Alexander had hoped for a battlemech from his father's rumored cache, but the joy over this suprise quickly quashed any depression. Alexander enjoyed his time at the university, refining Lee's tutelage, and displaying more gifts in leadership and piloting than in gunnery. Now, after a stint at home to relax, Alexander has decided to try his lot at becoming a mercenary, much to his mother's chagrin. The trip to Terra marks a new chapter in his young life.

Personality

Alexander wants to prove himself, but isn't prone to rashness. He is quite intelligent, having taken full advantage of his university training. Alexander is quiet as he gets to know people, but opens up quite a bit after a time. He can stick his foot in his mouth from time to time, but is rarely mean. A tinge of Southern drawl can be heard in Alexander's voice, owing to his father's family roots. He knows the ins and outs of a mech pretty well for a novice mechwarrior, but is better at piloting then gunnery. Hours in the simulator and other people's mechs have developed Alexander's fighting style into a short-range one. He can usually dodge enough enemy fire to get in close to pound the enemy with ranged fire. It's hard to miss when the target fills the reticle.
