PLANETARY DETAILS:

The planet is largely ocean with numbers of medium sized islands, and three small continents (nothing larger than Australia on Terra). The planet lies some distance from its sun, and is thus quite cold. Over 20% of its surface is covered in ice caps.

The planet is highly industrialized, with the primary industry being underwater mining. However, despite the high industry, the planet has remained fairly low technically ever since the Succession Wars. It is currently at a level of technology similar to the year 2100. The primary power source is nuclear, and while their military units lack fusion power plants, they have sophisticated electronic technology.

One of the main reasons the planet has not recovered much high technology is due to constant warfare between the competing polities. The Kosparov Federation, the Fortean Principality, and the Vostok Pact are all descendents of the unified planetary government that fell apart with the collapse of the Star League. The focus for all three has been on massive production rather than much in the way of advancement.

Socio-Industrial Levels:

Technological Development

Some advancement; poor educational systems; medical care at level of 21st-22nd century; microelectronics industry non-existent; some areas with higher rating possible, but privately run/held.

Industrialization Level

Basic heavy industry at level of 22nd century; fusion engines possible but no complex products (including BattleMechs)

Raw Material Dependence

Dependence World/system produces some of the raw materials needed and imports the rest.

Industrial Output

World has a wide industrial base that produces many different types of products and exports most of its output.

Agricultural Dependence

World has abundant environment producing enough to sustain the population using agriculture technologies; limited exports.

EMPLOYER SITUATION REPORT:

The current situation started over a dispute about mining rights. Kosparov opened up many new underwater mining operations in territory claimed by the Pact.

The Vostok Pact, a loose alliance of mostly underwater colonies, deployed its naval forces to blockade the area. The Kosparov navy was significantly damaged and forced to withdraw.

Given heavy Federation coastal defenses, the Vostok Navy was content to set up a blockade of their harbors. Currently Kosparov is nearly cut off from the ocean. The Vostok siege is being enforced by hundreds of water-navy ships, many of them extremely large battleships and aircraft carriers holding wings of conventional fighters.

The Kosparov Federation, cut off from its resources, fell into hardship. In desperation, they have scrounged nearly all of their available capital and are contracting for off-planet mercenary support to break the siege and protect them while they restore mining operations.

The Fortean Principality currently remains neutral, but their motives are currently unknown.

Combat will be significantly airborne, coastal, and/or underwater.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

1) Lift the siege of Kosparov
2) Safeguard Kosparov resumption of mining operations.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES:

1) Resist Fortean Principality involvement
